ACHD begins snow removal on neighborhood roads as another storm approaches SW Idaho

Crews from Ada County Highway District began working to plow side streets and neighborhood roads Sunday night at midnight after working around the clock to clear priority 1 and 2 areas.

Boise received between 6 and 8" of snow from the latest storm that blew in Saturday. Since then, road crews have been working 24 hours a day to clear roadways. ACHD says they have begun the process of clearing the more than 4,000 cul-de-sacs and 3,000 lane miles of residential roadways. A process that will likely take several weeks.

Main roadways and arteries will continue to receive regular maintenance and crews travel between neighborhoods. This process could likely be slowed down even more by what looks like another snow storm headed this way.

The Treasure Valley could receive another several inches of snow Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Temperatures should begin to warm back up to near normal ranges following that storm, which could help push snow levels to higher elevations, but another storm is forecasted to hit southwest Idaho this weekend. Models indicate that storm should arrive Sunday morning, although that could arrive sooner.

Crews will continue to work around the clock for the foreseeable future, says ACHD.
