HARRISBURG, Pa. (TND) — President Joe Biden is losing ground in the critical battleground state of Pennsylvania, according to the results of a new poll.
Findings from the Commonwealth Foundation show Quaker State voters would side with Biden over former President Donald Trump in the November election by just 1%. The slim margin is down from a similar poll in March which found Biden with a 3-point lead.
The poll occurred before last week’s presidential election, suggesting the scale could shift even further in Trump’s favor in the state. Various figures havepublicly called for Biden to bow out of the race after his dismal debate showing, including the New York Times editorial board.
Biden's reelection campaign, however, remains firm that the president will not drop out of the November election.

The president is also polling poorly throughout other parts of the U.S. Fewer than half of Democrats say they are pleased with their party’s decision to nominate Biden for president, according to a June Gallup poll. Additionally, Biden is trailing with Black voter support in Ohio, helping allow former Trump to gain a sizable lead in the state, according to a Marist poll.
Democratic strategist James Carville in an appearance on CNN Monday called for Biden to abandon his reelection bid for the good of the Democratic Party
“We have a country that 72% wants something different,” he said. “If the Democratic Party can’t produce something different that 72% of people want then why do we exist? What are we here for? The country is clamoring for change.”
