LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) – Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) has signed Latin Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Rosalía to an exclusive, worldwide co-publishing deal, the company announced Tuesday (June 4).
Having already released two studio albums, 2017’s Los ángeles and last year’s El mal quererin, in addition to snagging five Latin Grammy nominations and winning two (best urban fusion/performance and best alternative song), the Barcelona native’s career is off to a promising start.
This year alone, Rosalía has made waves following the release of her collaborative hit single “Con Altura” with J Balvin and a well-received performance at Coachella. She also made her acting debut in the Pedro Almodóvar film Dolor y Gloria.
“As an artist, Rosalía is totally in control and manifesting her own destiny,” said UMPG chairman and CEO Jody Gerson in a statement. “Beyond writing, producing and performing her own songs, she has created a new hybrid of flamenco music and is breaking cultural boundaries. You know greatness when you see it – when you watch Rosalía, you know she is an important voice.”
“I want to thank Jody for believing and trusting me, as a composer it is an honor to have signed with Universal Music Publishing,” added Rosalía in a statement. “I feel very happy to be part of this house that has so many artists that I admire and in this new stage in my career, I will give the best of me.”
The UMPG deal is for her full catalog including futures, but excluding the works on her first album, Los ángeles.
